FOR MANY BOXERS, TRANSPORT IS THEIR ONLY LIFELINE-AN ESSENTIAL PATHWAY TO A SECOND CHANCE
Boxers are beloved by many, consistently ranking among the top ten most favored breeds by the American Kennel Club (AKC). However, a harsh reality lurks behind their popularity—they are among the top ten purebred dogs entering shelters nationwide. This sad paradox speaks to a larger issue: countless boxers find themselves without homes, particularly in regions like Texas, New Mexico, and California, where shelter overcrowding and high euthanasia rates pose a dire threat.
In these overwhelmed shelters, the plight of boxers is particularly concerning. Their natural exuberance and high energy often result in kennel stress, which diminishes their chances of being adopted. The shelter environment can be chaotic and frightening for these dogs, leading them to lose their appeal to potential adopters. Sadly, these factors can place them at the top of the euthanasia list when shelters must make heartbreaking choices based on space.
Boxer Lovers Rescue is committed to providing hope for these deserving dogs by facilitating transport from high-risk areas to Idaho, where they can find forever homes. This mission is not just about saving lives; it’s about giving these loyal and loving animals the opportunity they deserve to thrive in caring environments.
The first step to helping boxers is transport.
We have to get them to us.
